Case study · Window cleaner · CardiffStarter£499

The Starter site that
does its job and stops there.

We rebuilt a fictional Cardiff window cleaner to show what £499 actually buys — three pages of content, one direct CTA, prices on the page, postcode round listed openly. No chatbot, no booking pipeline, no photo essay. Exactly enough.

The brief

A sole trader who didn't need a website, just somewhere to land.

Most sole traders aren't looking for an "online presence" — they're looking for a place to send the half-dozen people a week who Google them after a neighbour's recommendation. The brief was a site that closes those leads without trying to do anything else.

What we built

Six things £499 buys — and the five things it deliberately doesn't.

01

One direct CTA on every screen

Big phone number, big yellow WhatsApp button. No quote builder, no booking calendar, no booking-by-app. Sole traders convert on the call — the site exists to get them on the call.

02

Prices on the page, not on a quote

£25 outside / £35 in & out / +£15 conservatory. Self-qualifies the right customer before they ring. Removes 80% of the price-shopping calls Bryn would otherwise field.

03

'On my round' replaces a booking system

Visible postcode list with cycle frequency (every 8 weeks / 12 weeks). The visitor instantly knows whether they're a fit. No software, no overhead.

04

Single sans-serif, no editorial polish

Inter throughout, generous whitespace, plain prose. The page reads as 'honest, direct, no waffle' — which is also the brand promise. Type does the brand work.

05

Five sections, deliberately

Hero, prices, areas, why-me, contact. No FAQ accordion, no testimonials carousel, no chatbot widget, no 'live response time' theatre. £499 buys exactly enough.

06

Click-to-call works on every device

Phone number is a real tel: link. On mobile (where 80% of trade enquiries come from), one tap dials. On desktop, it copies to clipboard. No JavaScript needed.

What Starter deliberately leaves out(and the tier it lives at): AI chatbot receptionist (Business + chatbot add-on £29/mo), service-area pages by postcode (Business), live response widget (Business), online deposit-capture booking (Pro), blog and content engine (Pro), CRM integration (Pro). If you need any of those, you're a Business or Pro customer — and the price tells you so up front.
